Approve additional training seminar funds, up to $1500, for the USCA clubs in Alaska, Hawaii and Guam to host a separate regional training seminar

EB Ballot: #26-17

Motion by Hal Lymus, RD PNW Region and second by Mark Chaffin, RD MC Region, to approve additional training seminar funds, up to $1500, for the USCA clubs in Alaska, Hawaii and Guam to host a separate regional training seminar.

Background:

Pacific Northwest Region has three full member clubs in Alaska.  When there is a regional training seminar in the PNW Region, it poses a hardship for the members of our region who reside in Alaska to participate because of the expenditures it takes those members to travel to the mainland.  If the regional training seminar is hosted in Alaska the members on the mainland would have the same expenditures traveling to Alaska.  To travel from Alaska to the closest club in mainland is approximately 2,251 miles, a 40 ½ hours’ drive by car.

Alaska is not the only club that does not benefit from the training seminars on the mainland.  Clubs in Hawaii and Guam also do not benefit and have extra expenditures to attend.  I feel special funding for training seminars should be granted for clubs in Alaska, Hawaii and Guam upon request by full members clubs in those locations.

If this approved, all USCA Regional Training Seminar requirements will be observed according to the guidelines outlined by USCA to qualify to receive these funds.
